Emersons Green Running Club was formed in the Summer of 2012 with the intention of providing a running club environment to the residents of North-East Bristol and beyond.
Emersons Green is blessed with countless tracks, trails, paths and cycle routes and we intend to put them all to good use!
We aim to bring together people who have a common interest in running a look to provide a basis for fitness and social activity and a club ethos with members and friends who can give support and motivation to each other.
Some runners greatly benefit from joining a group of like-minded people. Despite what you might think, running clubs are not just for serious runners. We aim to organise our runs in such a way that you will not feel intimidated or left behind. Joining a running club is a great way to mix with others with similar goals to you.
We meet every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at the Pomphrey Hill Pavilion in Mangotsfield at 6.45pm and aim to run at 7pm returning to the Pavilion around 8pm.
- Our Monday night session (which we call Up & Coming Runners) is aimed at supporting those who want to start jogging or running for fitness.
- Our Tuesday night session will be a looped run with approximate 4, 5 and 6 mile options.
- Our Thursday session is typically a training session aimed at all abilities with often a looped alternative for those wishing to take it easy.
As a rough guide, if you are not able to run three miles, try Mondays, if you can run three miles or more, you should be fine on a Tuesday or Thursday.
We hire changing room facilities at the Pavilion so that we all keep warm pre-run in the Winter and have somewhere to store valuables whilst we are out running. It’s an ideal meeting point as there is a public car park and access to many off-road paths and trails.
The 6.45pm meet up allows time for a pre-run briefing and the completion of a short disclaimer (for first time attendees only). Please note that we do not cater for under 16s.
All runners attending a run are required to be either paid up members of the Club or pay £1 per run with us.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Emersons Green Running Club currently has a Coach in Running Fitness and numerous Leaders in Running Fitness. All of these qualifications have been obtained from UK Athletics. A number of these hold positions on the Club’s Committee which also contains a number of other experienced runners. In order to participate in Club running sessions, runners will be asked to sign a brief disclaimer (you can print a copy here, complete it and bring it with you to save time on the night) and will take responsibility for their own safety and well-being whilst out running with the Club.
