Up and Coming News

Another busy month for the Monday night Up and Coming runners - away runs, out and backs, steps and ladders, we enjoyed the holiday season and continued to have around 50 people each week, including a steady stream of guests.

Can you remember the first time you ever came to a club session? How did you feel as you walked into the changing room? What was going through your head? Chances are something along the lines of “Will I be fast enough / get left behind / be ignored etc etc?”

What made the difference for you and kept you coming back?

We know that the biggest hurdle new runners face is thinking they won’t fit in and so it’s great when new people try a Monday night session and find it’s not daunting and they are well-supported and other runners are supportive and encouraging. The Friendly Mile time trial is one of the best examples of this, with people cheering in every runner - it’s the definition of the EGRC feel-good vibe!

Our sessions will always offer a range of paces and distances so that whether you want to run / walk or zoom like a lightening Bolt, there’s something for you.

So thanks to everyone who makes our guests feel welcome, who chats to the new faces and encourages people to do their best. It’s that atmosphere which encourages people to join and continue to make the club the great place it is.
