Emersons Green Running Grub

Thanks to Vic Burchill for sending in this month's recipe - Protein balls.  In this recipe you can replace the flax seeds with anything else .. Vic uses a mixture of pumpkin and sunflower seeds.   The only problem with these is that they taste so nice it's hard to stop eating them! 🐷

Vic will be co-ordinating the volunteering for Doynton over the coming months so that's two notes to self:
1. Keep the date free  - Sunday 19th Jan 2020
2. Try making Protein Balls - you could even hand them out to those poor deserving Doynton runners!

#RunAndTalk

During 23-29 September 2019 England Athletics, supported by Mind – the mental health charity, will be encouraging people to #RunAndTalk.

#RunAndTalk is a week-long campaign aimed at breaking down stigmas associated with mental health and improving mental health and wellbeing through exercise and running. To support this initiative, Emersons Green Running Club will be registering its runs this week and encouraging all runners to come along, run and talk.   Our running club prides itself on being inclusive and supportive of all it's members and guest runners but this week gives us an opportunity to focus on how being a runner and taking part in social runs can improve mental health for all of us.

This year #RunAndTalk is placing a specific focus on men's mental health as research shows that men are less likely than women to report severe symptons of common mental health problems.  In addition suicide is the leading cause of death for people aged 20-34, and the biggest killer of men under the age of 50.

If you have any further ideas about how we can support this week please speak to Debra Parsons from Up & Coming or your team captains, Graham or Wendy.
