Captains Corner

Hey all!

It’s Wendy & Graham here! Your lovely EGRC captains. We can’t believe we’re a quarter of the way through the year already! Where does the time go!? Light evenings - here we come! Since the last edition we’re delighted to be able to say that we managed to secure 3 team entries to the Cotswold Way Relay (CWR) on Saturday the 29th June. Those 30 lucky / crazy people doing it know who they are. If you expressed an interest and paid your coin you will have received an email confirming the team you’re in and the stage you’ve been allocated. There will no doubt be lots of recceing to be had over the next 3 months. Even if you’re not running the race, if you fancy a trot out into the glorious Cotswolds, then you’d be welcome to come along for a recce. Just put a message on the EGRC Social group if so.

Sunday 24th March saw Race 3 of the Club Champs - the inaugural Weston Super Half. 20 EGRC members went along to run and a bunch went along to cheer the runners on. It was hard to believe that the race was actually snowed off last year because the weather this year was glorious! Perfect fresh spring sunshine. It was a lovely route and there were some cracking times done by EGRC members. The support that members gave each other, whether en route or cheering each other over the line, was truly inspirational and left us feeling proud. Next up on the Club Champs - (Race 4) the Horton Bull run - Sunday 28th April. Don’t forget Frenchay 10k on the same day though! 

Sunday 5th May will also see Bristol 10k and Race 5 on the Club Champ list - Newport Marathon. We have 25 EGRC runners signed up to the 10k and a hardy bunch crossing the bridge to run a bit further. Whether you’re running 6 miles or 26 miles - best of luck to all! If you’re not running but you fancy popping into Bristol or a bit further to cheer the runners on - please do! 

Finally, just a few more upcoming dates for your diary!

- Sunday 14th April - Breakfast run - Ashton Court & Leigh Woods.  **Hot off the press!** An hour ish gentle run on the other side of town followed by brekkie at Brunel’s Buttery down by the docks. Keep an eye on the #TeamEGRC Facebook page for more info.

- Friday 26th April 7.30 - Charity Quiz at Pomphrey Hill Pavilion in aid of CRY - see Noticeboard Section of newsletter and  #TeamEGRC Facebook page for more info.

- Sunday 9th June - Bradley Stoke 10k - Club Champs Race 6.

- Sunday 16th June - Cheddar Gorge Half Marathon - Club Champs Race 7 - if you’re planning to run and have not yet entered - don’t forget club members can get a 15% discount when entering! See #TeamEGRC Facebook page for the details.
