Mars Bar Krispies
6oz of butter
1 x large spoonful of golden syrup
6 oz rice krispies
Between 100g-200g of chocolate
2. Stir as it all slowly melts into a gooey mess. Eventually when the final nougat dissolves it will form a smooth even consistency.
3. Take off the heat and add half the rice krispies. Stir together until they are all covered, then add the remaining rice krispies and stir some more.
4. Add the resulting sticky mixture to a tin/tray of some kind - either non stick or greased/lined with paper, squash down to even out. Stick in the fridge for 30mins or so.
5. When it's hardened, take out of the fridge and pour over some melted chocolate. Stick back in the fridge to cool again.
6. When set take out of the fridge and leave for a while to soften before cutting into to whatever sized pieces you fancy.

Running with a Cold (not Covid-19!)
So, as the winter months are approaching, more and more of us are waking up with a sore throat or sniffles and of course it is important to monitor these symptoms closely. Remember if you have a high temperature, new or continuous cough or loss of smell or taste then you should get tested for Covid-19. For more advice check here
And remember if you or anyone in your household does develop symptoms or get a test for Covid-19 do let the Club know if you have attended one of the club nights within the last 10 days and of course, don't book on to any forthcoming sessions until you know you have the all clear!
If you have any concerns about this contact Pam Beattie, our Welfare Officer at welfare@emersonsgreenrunningclub.co.uk
OK sooo it's just a cold ... should you run? There's a helpful article in Runners World which considers the health pro's and cons of running with a cold which you may find useful. But if in doubt ... you rarely regret going out for a quick run!
Emersons Green Running Grub
Thanks to Nicola Tanner for her recipe for this month's Well Runner page. OK so there's not much healthiness going on here and as Nicola herself says, god knows how far you have to run to burn off the calories in a chunk of one of these...
Well, I would hazard a guess ...approximately this far ...
Recipe tips: The saucepan should be large enough to stir all the rice krispies in at the end - too small and they'll go everywhere! As the mars bar mixture melts it'll look awful and all split, where the caramel and nougat melt at different rates, but persevere and keep stirring. Also don't have the heat too high or it will stick and burn. Eventually when the final nougat dissolves it will form a smooth even consistency.
