EGRC Latest Challenges!

EGRC Route pursuit -  Jack Pitcher

Most of you will now be familiar with the EGRC Route Pursuit, an event that challenges you to run some new & familiar routes to earn yourself points!
The challenge lasts for 14 days (18th May -31st May), there are 20 routes available to run, the further the route is from our home at Pomphrey the more points it is worth, either 1, 3 or 5 points.
You can run 1 route per day (and each route only once!) and enter by posting in the TeamEGRC page with your effort on the Strava segment (if you use Strava), your route map if you use another tracker or simply a photo of yourself mid segment if you don't track yourself at all. Include a selfie in your post for good measure as we all love a selfie!
This challenge is all about getting out there and running the segments, there are no bonuses at all for time or speed!
So why are we earning points? Points mean prizes! There will be a draw for a bottle of wine at the end of the 2 weeks, as well as a bottle of wine for the person with the highest overall score.  For more information about the challenge and details of all the routes go to the event page on the Team EGRC facebook page  or contact Jack if you have any queries.

Weekly Training Challenge - Adrian Grimshaw

This is just an informal routine to keep an effort run each week, like the ones we all miss at club. The idea is to use our usual training ideas, but build them in to any run.

I have been doing this since lockdown started, and will be posting them weekly from now on - hopefully on a Sunday night. So far, we've had extended hills, like "Shortwood Switchback" for w/c 11th May and Fartlek for w/c 18th May. Coming up, we'll have Tempo, Sprints and more Hills - keep an eye on the #TeamEGRC page for more details.

Club Charity - Feed the Homeless Bristol

Just a reminder that, even during lockdown, the volunteers from Feed the Homeless are still out on the streets providing food, drinks and support to those who are still on the streets as well as people who are in accommodation but simply don't have enough food.  Although the council have managed to move the majority of homeless off the streets, Feed the Homeless estimate that over 150 people have appeared on the streets since the start of lockdown possibly due to sofa surfers no longer able to to surf or employees who had accommodation with their job which no longer exists.

Please support their efforts if you are able by donating here.  Even the smallest contribution will be really appreciated.
