Get to know our EGRC 2018/19 Club Champion....

What do you do for a living?

I run a homebased childcare business with my wife

How long have you been running with EGRC?

Turned up in November 2015. It was Science Park sprints which took me about a week to recover from.

What do you enjoy most about running?

The freedom, escape and feel good it can provide from a busy week. Compared to all the other sports I've enjoyed when younger, running is so simple & easy. Wherever you are you just put on the trainers and go. No kit, equipment or transport required...just head out for anytime to anywhere!

How do you spend the rest of your spare time?

Family time. Two young kids with their increasing interests tend to dominate weekends. The last few years I've been coaching with my sons football team and recently passed my Level 1 coaching badge

What is your favourite food?

Indian though post race I am partial to a bacon sandwich.

Do you have a favourite race/event/distance, if so tell us about it?

I like the balance of pace and endurance that 10k provides. Plus it suits my lifestyle in terms of training time. Following the club championship over the last few years has been brilliant for trying new races, terrains and distances. There have been so many great events. Weston Half this year was a standout but I do enjoy our own Rodway 10k as it feels like a 'home' race.

Where is the best place you have ever run?

Sections of the coastal paths around Cornwall & Devon are hard to beat

What is top of your bucket list?

Ironman

Describe what running means to you in 3 words.
