Hi everyone, I’m Helen, your Social Secretary for 2021. After 5 years as a member of the club I thought it was time to give a little something back!

First things first, a big thank you to Jules for undertaking the role last year. Whilst we weren’t able to do much face to face socialising, there were still plenty of Committee meetings going on behind the scenes with decisions to be made... the club can’t function without a full committee so thank you Jules for your contribution to keeping things on track in the strangest of years.

The good news is that it looks like we will actually be able to hold some group gatherings this year so we will be starting to make some tentative plans in the coming weeks and months. 

As this is your club, I would love to hear from members about the sort of social activities you would like to take part in... 

Are you only interested in running? Breakfast runs and away runs will return, but we could also explore options to go a bit further afield as a group once travel restrictions are lifted.

At some point spectator sport will return; for example Diamond League athletics, and large scale events such as the National Running Show. Are these things you would be interested in doing as an organised trip?

Or are you more interested in a good old knees up? Hopefully the Christmas Party will be able to go ahead this year!

I am hoping to send out a survey to members in the coming weeks so please make sure your contact details are up to date. Whilst we can’t promise right now what events and activities may be possible this year it would be great to hear your thoughts so we know what to focus on in the future.

Also, if anyone has an idea for a social event that they are happy to organise, please get in touch so the Committee can discuss and offer guidance around what is possible. I will be happy to help coordinate and to communicate with members to promote an event, but please do check first before making any plans.
