Inside Track

Sarah McNamara - A farewell as Newsletter Editor

Yes, I am subjecting myself to answering the questions in this month's Inside Track as this is my final newsletter!  I have really enjoyed bringing you The View from Pomphrey over the last 2 years.  Our running club is just phenomenal in so many ways and there really has never been a dull moment (and hopefully never a dull newsletter!)  It's also been great to serve on the committee for 2 years to see the inner workings of the club and see how tirelessly all the committee members and run leaders work to bring you everything our club does.

Our club is now looking for a new Newsletter Editor and there is a vacancy on the committee.  If you're tempted please e-mail or PM me to find out more about  the newsletter editor role.  Or contact Neil Newman or the rest of the committee if you're interested but would like to bring something different to the role.  A re-fresh may be just what is needed!

This only leaves me to say .. thank you to everyone that has supported the newsletter over the last 2 years.  I couldn't have done it without you! 💚🖤💚🖤💚

What do you do for a living?

I am a Private Sector Housing Officer at South Gloucestershire Council

How long have you been running with EGRC?

I joined EGRC within the first year of it being set up so that must be about 9 years now!

What do you enjoy most about running?

Exploring and discovering new places - I love finding new footpaths and discovering new routes even if it's just a little cut through footpath through some houses, it's satisfying and of course the whole sense of wellbeing that comes with running

What is your favourite food?

This is the hardest question as I love all food but my favourite has to be Goan fish curry - always delicious and a reminder of my travels from way back

Do you have a favourite race/event/distance? If so tell us about it.

My favourite running distance is anything around 10-13 miles and definitely love trail best so, spoken like a true EGRC member, my favourite event just has to be the Doynton Hard Half marathon!

What is the best place you have ever run?

Brecon Beacons - completing the Brecon Trail Marathon

What is top of your bucket list?

One day ... one day ... hopefully I will successfully get into the London Marathon.. and still be capable of running it!

What is the best or worst thing about running during a global pandemic?

I've missed events but running has been the absolute best thing that has kept me going over the last year especially all the running club challenges.

Describe what running means to you in 3 words.
