Club Charity 2020 - Feed the Homeless Bristol

You may have noticed from our last Newsletter that our chosen club charity for 2020 is Feed The Homeless Bristol. A few more words seem in order and who better to introduce them than the charity itself so here’s what they have to say on their website:

“Hello & welcome to Feed the Homeless Bristol. We're a diverse group of people from all walks of life and faiths, united by our desire to feed the homeless in Bristol.

Feed the Homeless Bristol has been going since February 2016, and has been registered as a charity since October 2016 (charity number 1169924). Our volunteers are split into three main groups; the cooks provide hot meals, sandwiches and snacks, the walkers distribute this food along with any warm clothing, blankets and sleeping bags that have been donated, directly to the needy on the streets and the management team (including our dedicated trustees) help ensure we meet our core objectives and continue to grow.

Currently all activities centre around distributing hot meals to the homeless within the city centre on Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays. With the continued support from our vibrant and caring multi-faith-based community, we hope to build upon this and help reach even more homeless people in the future."

Their web site (www.feedthehomeless.org.uk/) is being redesigned at the moment and is a bit sparse but they also have a Facebook page at www.facebook.com/fthBRISTOL/ which has regular updates about what they’re doing.

The founder is Naseem Talukdar and he’s an inspirational chap. You can Google his name and read about him and how he made some unconventional life choices to help others.

Naseem has just announced that he will be stepping down from the charity as chair as he goes on to tackle other global challenges such as plastic pollution.  We are in contact with Feed the Homeless Bristol to ask how we can help above and beyond fund raising for them so watch this space and please do support our charity events if you can!
