Up and Coming News

Monday Night Up and Coming runners session is truly a team effort and this month I wanted to thank all the run leaders for the work they put into making this happen every week. Often there are 40 runners, of a wide range of abilities and we aim to help everyone get the best out of their sessions. So big thanks to Anna, Donna, Anne, Pam, Steve and Matt for all their hard work.

I asked asked them for some of their recent highlights from Monday’s and here’s what they said:

Steve Burge: I really enjoyed the Meet and Greet session this month and I can’t wait to do it again.  You don’t get to do a lot of mileage, but learning to steadily pace your run is fab. It was also a great session to mix up the group and get to talk to those runners you may not usually talk/run with.

Anna Thomas: What I find great is seeing people come every week and watching them grow in confidence and ability. Whatever the session is they initially think it may be too hard or that they'll be too slow BUT so many times I've spoken to them after and they are amazing, fighting their fears and just going for it. They exceed their own expectations...
Deb Parsons: The Friendly mile time trial is always a great evening, despite the groans when people are told that's what the session is! The support everyone gives each other is fantastic and people really give it their all.  The atmosphere as the last runner crosses the line is brilliant, with everyone cheering and clapping their effort. It's another of those times that makes you realise what a special club EGRC is.

Pam Beattie: Seeing the performances at Hogweed 10k, for some their first 10k!
